floating platforms / south slope, brooklyn

This garden was designed to be a daily retreat for this couple’s busy life, a place to connect and disconnect throughout the day. The garden is one of the main features of the home; in full view through the floor to ceiling windows and doors that open to the terrace. Travertine platforms float above a plantscape of emerald textures that hugs the main seating area. 90% evergreen, this garden holds it’s beauty year round with the fiery autumn color of a specimen Japanese Maple and the sweet spring smell of Viburnum Carlesii announcing the seasons. Delicate Ferns, fringe-leaved Maple leaves, swaying bamboo and feathery grasses soften the minimalist design. A full, well-blanced lighting plan gives the garden a warm inviting glow whether enjoyed outside or seen from inside the home.
