New York City gardens brooklyn backyard cedar fence blue stone pathway

brownstone backyard / park slope, brooklyn

Most backyards in Brooklyn inherently have a similar small rectangular footprint. Less of a challenge it's an opportunity to get creative.
The raised levels and strong geometry of the planting beds gave this backyard interest and made it feel bigger. We softened the space with layered evergreen shrubs and four seasons of flowering perennials. The horizontal fencing, blue stone pathway and ambient path lights give a romantic entrance to the main garden.
